Henry Jenkins, the director of comparative studies at MIT, writes an essay covering 8 popular untruths about video gaming. He covers topics including violence and aggression, and it makes for a good arguing point for video game lovers and enthusiasts. The article seems a few years dated, citing 2000-2003 sources, but the points made seem to hold true today.

The overwhelming majority of kids who play do NOT commit antisocial acts. According to a 2001 U.S. Surgeon General’s report, the strongest risk factors for school shootings centered on mental stability and the quality of home life, not media exposure.
